‘After Mary and Martha’s Kitchen’ 80x100cm oil on canvas is in the RWA Open exhibition. Also in the gallery is my painting of the ‘Three Peas’.
This painting is based on ‘Christ in the House of Martha and Mary’ by Valazquez. For me it prompts the thought that preparing food with love is of equal importance to the feast. The couple in the painting are enjoying strawberries and cream. The birds on the wall paper look like they will try to steal the strawberries. This was inspired by the ‘Strawberry Thief’ wallpaper of William Morris.
My work will be on display at the RWA from September 12- 3 January and will be available to buy at the gallery or on the RWA Open online exhibition.
