I am exhibiting The Taste of Things in the RWA Open Exhibition. I am delighted that three of my pieces of work are on display at the Royal West of England Academy until 28 December.
The Taste of Things oil on canvas 120x100cm pictured here is based on a film directed by Tran Anh Hung. It is about the joy of preparing good food. It follows the relationship between the chef and his assistant. Food is their passion it is also an obsession. The appreciation of food is illustrated in the scene of eating Ortolan Bunting under tea towels to savour the flavour.
Also on display is a coloured etching based on the film Babette’s Feast directed by Gabriel Axel. In this picture Babette cooks up a feast which brings the community together. The film was based on a book by Isak Dinesen about the transformative power of food.
My painting In the Balance which was shortlisted for the BEEP painting prize is also in the exhibition.
